Homes
Most East Sacramento homes were built between the 1920s and the 1950s, and many are 70 to 100 years old. The Fabulous Forties has Tudor Revival, Mediterranean and Colonial homes. Getting Around
J Street and Folsom Boulevard run east and west through the neighborhood, and Alhambra Boulevard runs north and south. Highway 50 and Business 80 are close by. The SacRT Gold Line serves the south edge, with stations at 39th Street and 48th Street. Downtown Sacramento is about a five-minute drive, and drive times change with traffic.
Parks, Shops and Daily Life
McKinley Park covers about 32 acres, with a rose garden, a duck pond, a pool, tennis courts, a playground and a branch library. East Portal Park and Henschel Park are smaller parks nearby. J Street and Folsom Boulevard hold locally owned shops, coffee spots and restaurants. In December, the Fabulous Forties is known for its holiday lights.
