Citrus Heights covers about 14 square miles, and its areas differ by their corridors, their parks and their distance to Interstate 80.
Sunrise Boulevard and Greenback Lane
This is the city's main retail crossroads and the home of Sunrise Mall. The Sunrise Tomorrow plan, adopted by the city in 2021, guides mixed-use redevelopment of the mall property over many years. As of October 2026 the mall is partly open. Nearby residential areas include Birdcage Heights and Sunrise Ranch.
Sylvan Corners and Old Auburn Road
Sylvan Corners sits at the geographic center of the city. The area was called Sylvan until a developer renamed it Citrus Heights in 1910. Sylvan Road and Old Auburn Road meet Auburn Boulevard here, and neighborhood names such as Sylvan Oaks and Sylvan Park carry the history forward.
Rusch Park and Arcade Creek
Rusch Community Park is about 48 acres and is the largest park in the Sunrise Recreation and Park District. It holds the historic Rusch Home and a community center. The city has roughly 26 miles of creeks, including Arcade Creek,
North Toward Roseville and Antelope
Northern neighborhoods around Antelope Road and Auburn Boulevard sit near the Roseville line. Antelope Road is Exit 100 off Interstate 80. Names in this part of the city include Northridge, Roseville Pointe and Antelope Woods. Some addresses sit close to the county line, so check an address.

Homes from the 1960s to the 1980s
Housing tracts spread out from the Sunrise and Greenback corridors in the 1970s and 1980s, and they make up much of the city. Most are single-family homes on conventional lots. Updates vary from home to home, so a close look at each one matters.
Larger Lots and Early Subdivisions

Downtown Sacramento Drive
Citrus Heights is roughly 15 miles northeast of downtown Sacramento. Interstate 80 runs along the west side of the city, and Business 80 continues toward downtown. Drive times change with traffic.
Bus and Light Rail
SacRT runs bus service in Citrus Heights, and the city has no light rail station of its own. The nearest SacRT Blue Line stations are Watt/I-80 and Roseville Road, to the west and southwest. SacRT Route 1 has connected Sunrise Mall to Watt/I-80, so check SacRT for current routes.
